cyspixels asked:

I saw the Buzz Bee shotgun today but it's been redesigned. The double Shot now has its barrels stacked vertically instead of the horizontal layout you featured previously. Nerfguns!!

WHOA maybe they did it to make it look less like a straight up shotgun? or maybe just so it looks like a more current MODEL of shotgun. who knows

man i gotta get this blog back up and runing

robbydude asked:

humans vs. zombies? im interested. tell me more!

Humans Vs. Zombies is a thing that a bunch of colleges around the country do now, apparently. It hit SCAD in my sophomore year, which was the same year the school lifted the ban on keeping Nerf guns in dorm rooms.

BASIC RULES:

  • The game starts with one “zombie” and a whole crowd of “humans”. the more humans, the better. this is a game meant to be played on a large scale. Each player gets an official, easily recognizable bandanna.
  • Boundaries are outlined. At SCAD the game was limited strictly to the dorms, though this meant people who lived out at Barnard Village saw a lot quieter of a game than everyone else did. A time limit is also set for the competition— again, going by SCAD’s measure, a school weekend (Friday-Saturday-Sunday) was the norm.
  • Humans get to shoot Nerf guns at zombies— whatever arms they can muster— as well as toss balled-up pairs of socks (though doing this was unanimously regarded as totally lame).  Once a Zombie is hit with a dart, they can’t move for a hundred seconds. Their bandannas are worn tied around their arms.
  • Zombies don’t get Nerf guns. They turn humans into zombies by tagging them. Their movement isn’t restricted in any way— these are 28 Days Later zombies, who can run around and shit, except they’re more dangerous because they can talk with each other and use tactics to gang up on people. They wear their bandannas on their heads or necks.
  • If there are ANY humans left at the end of the competition, the humans win. If there aren’t, the zombies win. Seeing as the competition was a 24-hour nonstop thing, and people didn’t just need to play for fun, but also to get to real school facilities (the cafeteria, the computer lab, the bus stop, laundry machines, etc.), it was very, very hard for the humans to win.
  • It was more fun to be a human than to be a zombie. In my opinion, anyways. You got to shoot nerf guns.

BASICALLY the first year this happened, everyone flipped a shit over it. A bunch of kids started calling themselves “RAPTURE” and did Nerf drills at Forsyth park in preparation for the event. (Naturally, most went undead the first night, due to them acting like complete goobers.) I had a hell of a lot of fun on the first night, but as the weekend wore on and the zombies got more numerous and smarter things got increasingly stressful.

Eventually things came to a head. After getting chased out of the laundry room by a ravenous pack of horrors, I narrowly made it into the safety of my Jeep, flashing the international sign language for “eat a dick” to a confused and offended-looking reanimated corpse. I then peeled out of the parking lot and swerved in an attempt to hit a shambling pack of ghouls with my car and thus do the world a favor.

I kind of wasn’t allowed to play after that.

To be honest, this was back when I was still sort of a douche and a sore loser, and I probably wouldn’t get so worked up about it today. I didn’t participate in any more HvZ events after that year, though, out of choice. I don’t like getting frothing mad about dumb things like that.

Maybe the best tactic out of anyone I saw was my friend Kit, who dressed up as the Scout from TF2 on Saturday night and spent the entire time running around with a Wiffle bat bonking both humans and zombies alike, “because fuck it.”

Nerf blog time again. SO HEY, IF YOU WEREN’T CHEESED OFF ENOUGH ABOUT MY LAST POST, this time we’re going to talk about a gun that isn’t actually made by Nerf, but one of its premiere imitators.
Buzz Bee Toys makes knock-off Nerf guns. Some of them are better than Nerfs, some of them are worse. None of them have the craftsmanship that legit Nerfs do, but some sort of make up for it by looking like real guns, like the Double Shot here does.
This sucker doesn’t only look like a shotgun, it acts like one too. (Though it doesn’t shoot an equivalent of buckshot, because that would be impractical and weird. What would you use? Beanbag pellets?) The front part unclips and hinges downward so you can jam the darts, complete with their own questionably-functional-but-still-cool-looking ORANGE SHELLS, into the twin barrels. You then snap the whole thing back together and fire— squeeze sort of hard for one barrel, then a little harder for the other, or just squeeze really hard for both barrels at once. When you’re ready to reload, the empty shells spring out of the barrel. How cool is that? Too cool.
PROS INCLUDE: Coolness factor, which is pretty much at maximum— ESPECIALLY during Humans Vs. Zombies, which is what I bought this for. This thing has some surprisingly decent decent firing power, too, maybe because of the shells, though I have no idea how or why. It’s also got a little compartment in the stock that you can store extra darts in, which is nice.
CONS INCLUDE: You only get two shots before reloading. That’s true with a lot of real shotguns too, though, so I guess it adds to “realism”. The thing definitely doesn’t have the same quality of material or craftsmanship as Nerf guns do, and although mine is in good condition due to me not really getting to use it that often, I’m curious as to how resilient it is to wear and tear. (Then again, they’re cheap enough that buying a new one isn’t a colossal headache.) Finally, while the shells are super cool, sticking the darts in the shells is kind of an added hassle. (So is OWNING enough shells to last through a decent firefight. OR ALTERNATELY getting really, really good about picking up your shells after they clatter to the ground action movie-style.) Overall, though, despite the drawbacks: definitely worth checking out, despite it being a bit of an Asics to Nerf’s Nike.
AND HEY, ONE MORE UNPOPULAR OPINION: I actually like Buzz Bee Toys’ darts better than Nerf’s— not just because they’re cheaper, but also because they’re just a hair smaller than Nerf darts, which makes them jam less. In my experience, anyways. Also, they’re yellow, and yellow is my favorite color, so there.

indigoblooper asked:

Are there any nerf guns you think are just plain bad?

there will be ones i plan to cover that i’ve owned, and that i’ve personally found less than fun to use. i probably won’t hate on any i haven’t ever used personally, though.
